Chambers To Ponder Path after Wladimir Klitschko's Injury
13:59
With the news coming down that WBO/IBF
heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is recovering from shoulder
surgery and probably unable to fight until 2010, his likely next
opponent, WBO mandatory Eddie Chambers, s going to ponder his options
in 2009. Klitschko injured his left shoulder during June's win over
Ruslan Chagaev. There were moves being made to have Klitschko-Chambers
take place in the December. That plan is now off.
BoxingScene.com spoke with Chambers' promoter Dan Goossen on Saturday.
He plans to continue his discussions for the Klitschko clash. Goossen
still appears conifdent the fight can be made. For the moment, it's not
clear if Chambers will wait until the spring for a fight with Klitschko
- or take an interim-fight in 2009 to stay busy. Chambers beat
Alexander Dimitrenko in July to earn the shot.
The other person waiting in the wings is IBF mandatory Alexander
Povetkin. Povetkin has been the mandatory since 2008. He was going to
fight the Klitschko-Chambers winner. With the current situation,
Povetkin's shot is also going to be pushed back. Source:boxingscene.com
