As
BoxingScene.com had previously reported on Sunday, Top Rank and Golden
Boy Promotions plan to mediate their issues on Tuesday before retired
federal judge Daniel Weinstein in Santa Monica, California, in an
effort to save the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao mega-fight
and resolve some other issues. A few years ago Weinsten helped settle
their heated dispute over which company had the promotional rights to
Pacquiao. While not confirmed, Pacquiao's pending lawsuit will be
another topic both sides will discuss.
Top Rank chairman Bob Arum told USA Today that Mayweather/Golden Boy
will have to drop their demands for random blood testing, and for all
to apologize publicly to Pacquiao for implying that he used performance
enhancing drugs.
"Absolutely, from every single one of them," Arum said of the apology. "Everybody."
The issue of random blood tests has broken the fight apart.
Mayweather's side want random tests within 30-days of fight and
Pacquiao wants the cut-off to be 30-days prior to the fight. It appears
for now that both sides are holding their position on the subject. The
fight is tentative for March 13 but Arum told the paper that a date in
May, or later, is possible too.
